The Duke of Gloucester visits the Barnet War Memorial at Finchley Hospital

HRH The Duke of Gloucester KG CVO
Visits The War Memorial

On a chilly, grey November afternoon, His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO took time out of a very busy schedule to visit Finchley Memorial Hospital to view the new war memorial installed there.

HRH was accompanied by Martin Russell, the Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Barnet who presented to His Royal Highness The Worshipful The Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Alison Moore, and Trustees of the Association: Lt Col Julian Olver MBE, Michael Crick, Sally Atkinson, Barry Atkinson, Catherine Loveday, and Gerald Alterman.

After a brief conversation with each of the Trustees, HRH inspected the memorial. He appeared impressed by its size, asking questions about several of the names, including Parr and Garland.  He was interested to hear some of the details of last year’s Service of Dedication and unveiling.

After braving the cold for some twenty minutes or so, the Duke left for his final local visit of the day.
